Border conservation in Hindu Kush-Himalaya | Science

— June 29th 2023 at 13:01
The Hindu Kush-Himalaya region (HKH) is one of the most biodiverse places in the world. The area hosts four global biodiversity hotspots (1) as well as 12 terrestrial and 5 freshwater Global 200 Ecoregions (2), yet multiple species are at risk of imminent extinction (3). Both physical barriers and policy differences across international borders hinder conservation efforts. Protecting the region’s biodiversity will require multilateral cooperation.
