Dealmaster: Savings on Galaxy and Pixel phones, desktop PCs, and more

We have a smorgasbord of discounts ranging from some of the latest Android smartphones to HP's desktop PCs, as well as savings on solid-state drives, headphones, and more. So whether you need to upgrade your storage, or you want to get a new Galaxy or Pixel phone, there's something in there to help you stay productive and entertained.

Android smartphone deals

Samsung's Galaxy S23 launched not too long ago, and we're starting to see discounts on the company's flagship handset series. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra promises solid photography capabilities, with Samsung's "Nightography" for low-light images and the controversial 100X Space Zoom. Outside of the bump to a 200-megapixel sensor, this year's upgrades are more modest: You still get a similar design to the prior S22 series, and the faster, more efficient processor is considered a nice quality-of-life update. So while it may not be worth it for someone with last year's flagship to upgrade, if you're coming from an older phone, the S23 promises fast speeds, 5G connectivity, and a great camera experience.

 • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 256GB storage for $1,100 (was $1,200) atย Amazon
 • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 512GB storage for $1,280 (was $1,380) atย Amazon
 • Samsung Galaxy S23+ with 256GB storage for $900 (was $1,000) atย Amazon
 • Samsung Galaxy S23+ with 512GB storage for $1,020 (was $1,120) atย Amazon
 • Samsung Galaxy S23 with 128GB storage for $750 (was $800) atย Amazon
 • Samsung Galaxy S23 with 256GB storage for $810 (was $860) atย Amazon

If you prefer Google's Android operating system, the Pixel 7 delivers the purest version of the OS. Though the Pixel 7 doesn't come with the Galaxy's high zoom and megapixel count, Google's investment in AI and computation photography is no slouch, and the Pixel 7 delivers some of the best images captured on a smartphone with its unique camera bar design on the rear, and now you can get all that with up to a 25 percent discount. The larger Pixel 7 Pro has a 5x optical telephoto lens that can capture images with up to 30x Super Res zoom with digital cropping, whereas the non-Pro version lacks the telephoto shooter.

The Ars Technica GOG collection: Our picks from GOGโ€™s big Spring Sale

Frostpunk, an alternate history survival city building simulation game.

Several staff members are big fans of the GOG games marketplace, primarily for two reasons: the games are DRM-free, and there are many classic DOS games from the '80s and '90s.

GOG has been running its annual Spring Sale for a few days now. This time around, we worked with GOG to curate a list of Ars Technica picks. These are discounted games chosen by Ars staffers Samuel Axon and Lee Hutchinson that we think Ars readers might enjoyโ€”assuming you haven't played them already.

If you haven't, discounts during this sale range from 20 percent to as much as 75 or 80 percent. Since most of them are classics, they generally weren't too pricy to begin with.

Dealmaster: Eufyโ€™s smartest door lock is now on sale

(credit: Eufy)

Eufy's home security products are on sale, with several discounts across a wide array of smart home accessories, including door locks, cameras, and doorbells. One of my favorite items from the company is a smart door lock that combines three products in one, and it's now discounted by 15 percent.

The Eufy Security S330 integrates a fingerprint keyless entry door lock, a smart lock that can be accessed via your phone or keypad, and an integrated smart doorbell with a chime and camera to detect visitors at your front door. The S330 isn't at the lowest price we've ever seen, but it still knocks $53 off the cost of this all-in-one front door smart home accessory. If you don't need a three-in-one lock, Eufy also sells standalone smart deadbolts, doorbells, and cameras at various prices.

Eufy Security products for your front door

 • Eufy Security S330 Smart Video Lock for $297 (was $350) at Amazon:ย Eufy's S330 is more than just a smart deadbolt for your home. This Wi-Fi-connected lock integrates a fingerprint reader for easy access, a smart doorbell with a 2K camera to monitor your front entryway, and a keypad with chime. A traditional key can also be used to access your home. One of the nicest things about Eufy compared to some competitors is that no subscription is required to access these smart features, including video recording and live feeds. You can store your video footage locally on a memory card in the included doorbell chime.
 • Eufy Security C210 Smart Lock for $100 after coupon (was $140) at Amazon: If you don't need all the bells and whistles of the Eufy Security S33 and would prefer a simpler smart lock, the C210 is a deadbolt with a keypad on the front, a key slot for traditional access, and Wi-Fi connectivity that eliminates the need for a hub or bridge. Eufy promises access to your home in five different ways, including through the Eufy Security app, the keypad or a physical key, your Apple Watch, or Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
 • Eufy Security Dual Camera Video Doorbell for $150 after coupon (was $200) at Amazon: Eufy's Dual Camera Video Doorbell sets itself apart from the competition with its dual-camera setup designed to deter porch pirates. This model comes with a traditional forward-facing 2K camera to check for visitors and alert you when someone is at the door, but it also includes a bottom-mounted camera that's ideally placed to monitor packages and notify you if you have a delivery. It's perfect for online shoppers.
 • Eufy Security Video Doorbell (Battery) for $80 after coupon (was $100) at Amazon:ย For those who prefer simplicity, this video doorbell is battery operated, meaning you won't have to mess with wiring inside your home, and it comes with an FHD 1080p resolution camera. While affordable, the Eufy Security Video Doorbell comes with AI-driven features that will detect if there's a human presence at your door. Eufy also includes a wireless chime in the package.

The coupons referenced in our deals do not require a specific code. Instead, be sure to click on the "apply coupon" box before adding theย items to your shopping cart to enjoy the savings.ย

Dealmaster: Big savings on Apple laptops

MacBook Air

Enlarge / Most of Apple's Mac lineup besides the Mac Pro has been updated recently, like the MacBook Air pictured here. Don't expect to see more of this in March. (credit: Valentina Palladino)

If you're in the market for a new Apple laptop, there are plenty of discounts available. While there are more generous savings with slightly older models, like Apple's M1-powered MacBook Pro, you can still find some solid discounts on Apple's M2-equipped notebooks. These include the new MacBook Air as well as Apple's smaller 13.3-inch MacBook Pro. Those seeking a larger-format Apple notebook, like the 14- or 16-inch Pro, will have to settle for the M1 models if they want to save a bit of money.

The MacBook Pro with M1 is now up to $400 off, making the 16-inch model an excellent all-around laptop for those who don't need the extreme performance that the latest silicon brings. If you're still on the fence on which model is the best fit for your workflow, be sure to check out our Apple MacBook buying guide. The slightly older notebook is still an excellent choice for less-demanding users, casual home computing, and college students on a tight budget. Here are some of the best deals we've spotted for Apple's laptops.

Best SSD and RAM deals to boost your PCโ€™s performance

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to get more life out of your existing laptop or desktop is by upgrading your systemโ€™s memory and storage. If your PC is sluggish, adding more RAM and additional or faster internal storage can speed things up. These simple upgrades are often easy to perform and wonโ€™t break the bank, especially if youโ€™re not ready to upgrade to an entirely new computer.

For performance users, the best deal weโ€™ve spotted for upgrading your storage is Western Digitalโ€™s WD Black SN850X. This NVMe solid-state drive was originally listed for $180 but is now discounted by $70, taking the price down to just $110 for 1TB of reliable storage. If you need more storage, Seagateโ€™s FireCudaโ€™s 4TB capacity NVMe drive is now discounted to $530. There are also smaller deals on 1TB drives if you donโ€™t need that much capacity.

On the memory front, Corsairโ€™s Vengeance LPX desktop RAM kit currently has a 25 percent discount. There are also other smaller discounts on DDR4 and DDR5 memory for both laptops and desktops. You can check out our complete list of RAM and SSD deals below.
