A LaCl3-based lithium superionic conductor compatible with lithium metal

Nature, Published online: 05 April 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-023-05899-8

A LaCl3-based lithium superionic conductor is developed that has excellent interfacial compatibility with lithium metal electrodes, with its optimized Li0.388Ta0.238La0.475Cl3 electrolyte exhibiting good Li+ conductivity and low activation energy.

2D fin field-effect transistors integrated with epitaxial high-k gate oxide

Nature, Published online: 22 March 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-023-05797-z

The epitaxial synthesis of high-density, vertically aligned arrays of two-dimensional (2D) fin-oxide heterostructures is described, enabling the fabrication of 2D fin field-effect transistors with high electron mobility and desirable low-power specifications.

Geometric frustration of Jahn–Teller order in the infinite-layer lattice

Nature, Published online: 22 February 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-022-05681-2

A distorted infinite-layer lattice of single-crystal CaCoO2 originates from competition between an ordered Jahn–Teller effect and geometric frustration.

Topological spin texture in the pseudogap phase of a high-Tc superconductor

Nature, Published online: 22 February 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-023-05731-3

Using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy, one of the first direct observations of topological spin texture is described, in the pseudogap phase of a high-temperature cuprate superconductor based on YBa2Cu3O6+x.

Ageing threatens sustainability of smallholder farming in China

Nature, Published online: 22 February 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-023-05738-w

Rural population ageing reduces the sustainability of smallholder farming in China, but the transition to a new farming model could reverse the negative effects of rural population ageing.

Atomic Bose–Einstein condensate in twisted-bilayer optical lattices

Nature, Published online: 22 February 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-023-05695-4

Quantum simulation of superfluid to Mott insulator transition in twisted-bilayer square lattices based on atomic Bose–Einstein condensates loaded into spin-dependent optical lattices provides a new direction for exploring moiré physics in ultracold atoms.

A universal interface for plug-and-play assembly of stretchable devices

Nature, Published online: 15 February 2023; doi:10.1038/s41586-022-05579-z

A universal interface connects soft, rigid and encapsulation modules together to form robust, stretchable devices in a plug-and-play manner by pressing without using pastes, which will simplify and accelerate development of on-skin and implantable devices.
